Regenerative Braking Setup Options

Regenerative braking (“regen”) turns your motor into a generator, recovering energy back into the battery whenever you slow down. It improves range, reduces wear on brake components and makes for a smoother, more controlled ride.

When customising your FONZ prior to delivery, you can choose from three regen settings:

1. Standard Regen (Recommended)

How it works:
Regen activates automatically when you apply the brakes.

Benefits:

  • Most natural and intuitive feel

  • Extends range with no change in riding style

  • Minimises wear on brake pads and discs

  • Set to Low as default

This is the ideal balance for everyday riding and is included as standard.

2. Maximum Regen

How it works:
Regen engages more aggressively when you apply the brakes, delivering the highest amount of energy recovery.

Benefits:

  • Most effective for increasing range

  • Stronger deceleration when braking

  • Further reduces mechanical brake wear

This setting is popular with riders who want maximum efficiency and don’t mind a firmer braking feel.

3. Regen Removed From Rear Brake (Not Recommended)

How it works:
Regen is disabled from the rear brake so the motor won’t regenerate when you press the rear lever.
This makes it possible to apply small amounts of rear brake pressure while accelerating at the same time.

Important to note:

  • Not recommended as it reduces energy recovery and efficiency

  • Increases wear on rear brake components
