Or do I need a motorcycle licence? Licensing rules explained for Australia and New Zealand.
In most states of Australia you need a motorcycle licence to ride an electric motorcycle or electric scooter.
However, in some states you can ride on a car licence if the FONZ electric motorcycle or electric scooter is speed limited to 50km/h. These states include Qld, NT, SA, WA and all of NZ.
Should I ride on a car licence or get my full licence?
For heading down to the beach or visiting the local farmers market, having an electric moped is a simple and convenient option for making the switch to zero emission, sustainable transport.
While we can restrict all FONZ models to 50km/h on request, if you're planning on doing bigger trips we do recommend getting your rider licence. It's a small commitment of time for a long list of benefits - the adventure, convenience and endless time-saving you get once you're a rider!
